George R. Flowers is a long-time New York City broadcaster, voice over performer and stage actor, and voice-over coach. He is also a widely published magazine and newspaper writer, and a screenwriter who is now marketing six original feature-length comedic screenplays. A member of SAG-AFTRA and the New York Press Club, he has more than 50 years of professional experience.

Now largely retired, George R. Flowers has spent spent more than 50 years as a freelance voiceover performer, announcer and narrator in New York City. George was a freelance staff announcer for WABC Radio for 25 years, beginning in 1990.
Additionally, he was a promo and commercial announcer for WBBR/Bloomberg Radio, and was used by the Bloomberg television network. He also was the announcer for Game Show Radio (on WEPN and WXRK), and a staff announcer for Radio Disney and ESPN Radio, all in Manhattan.
Flowers was a long-time newscaster for WCBS/FM, a newscaster and editor for UPI Radio, and a newscaster for Air America Radio, and for New York City radio stations WOR-FM, WBLS, WLIB and WWRL.
On television, Flowers was the announcer for New York 1, the city's all-news cable channel for more than 20 years. Other television credits include feature announcing for NBC's Late Night with David Letterman, announcements for PBS, and for WNET-TV/Channel 13 in New York, where he served as a staff announcer and an on-camera pledge host.
Additionally, he was an on- and off-camera host for WNYE-TV, also in New York City. He was a staff announcer and on-camera news anchor for WLIW-TV/Channel 21 in Garden City, N.Y. And he was used on- and off-camera by Cablevision, as an announcer by various News 12 stations, and on- and off-camera by Time Inc./New Media, AT&T, Exxon, JC Penney and other major American corporations.
Commercially, Mr. Flowers has voiced commercials for numerous national clients, including Anheuser-Busch, Beck’s Beer, Bayer Aspirin, Canon Cameras, JP Morgan/Chase, Delta Airlines, DuPont, JVC, Panasonic and Zenith.
Corporate clients have included Allied Chemical, American Express, AT&T, Canon, DuPont, Exxon, IBM, JC Penney, JVC, New York Life, Metropolitan Life, Northrop-Grumman, Paramount Pictures, Texaco and Zenith.
Flowers specialized in medical and pharmaceutical narrations and worked for many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, including Merck, Pfizer, G.D. Searle and Sanofi. For more than 20 years, he was the principal announcer for many of the country's most prominent Continuing Medical Education projects, including WebMD's daily Internet CME broadcast for physicians, the Medical News Network and the Physician's Radio Network.
His narrating services were used extensively by the Center for Biomedical Communications at Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons, located at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital.
Additional clients included the United Nations, and the Hayden Planetarium in Manhattan, for which he narrated a sky show. He was a webcast moderator for the Discovery Channel, and his announcing services were used by Madison Square Garden and the MSG Network.
Mr. Flowers has also been a widely published print journalist, although he has transitioned to screenwriting. He has completed six original, feature-length, comedic screenplays, which are available for further development. Additionally, a spin-off television sit-com has been developed based on the first five screenplays (which are mostly sequential) and it too is available for production. As an actor, Mr. Flowers specialized in Off-Broadway dramatic readings of the short stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe at various theaters in New York City, including Late Night Poe at the 13th Street Theater in Greenwich Village, A Midnight Dreary at the 78th Street Theater Lab in Manhattan, and Candlelight Poe at the popular Columbia University nightspot The West End Gate, across from the uptown campus. He performed Poe's works at numerous colleges and universities, and on radio, where he appeared, as well, in dramas for National Public Radio's Simon Studio Presents. As a stage actor, he performed at many theaters and other venues, mostly in Manhattan, and in several films, but not in staring roles. His acting reel is available upon request.
Flowers taught commercial voiceover announcing and voice acting for 50 years, mainly at the largest rehearsal studio complex in Manhattan, Ripley Grier Studios. He has authored a manual on the subject, and updated it many times to keep it in line with current trends. He ranks among the longest-running voiceover coaches in New York City.
For nearly 20 years, Mr. Flowers was a stand-up comedian, working in venues in the New York metropolitan area, including Dangerfield’s Night Club and the former Carnegie Recital Hall. George was lead anchorman for Howard 100 News (think "The Onion" on radio), one of the Howard Stern channels at SIRIUS Satellite Radio, where he appeared regularly on the Howard Stern Show and on Howard Television.
George R. Flowers has taken courses toward (but did not complete) his Master’s Degree in Anthropology at Hunter College in New York City, having earned a B.A. in Psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fordham University. He is a member of four academic honor societies, SAG-AFTRA and the New York Press Club.
